Responsibilities include supervising professional and student staff; preparing and monitoring budgets; overseeing organizational services, advisor support, student organization, and leadership development programs; creating, communicating, implementing, and evaluating a departmental vision and strategic plan; developing and promoting activities and traditions in support of a vibrant and engaging campus community; working as part of the Student Affairs director team supporting and enhancing Student Affairs initiatives in support of the University mission; fostering a sense of community that encourages and promotes interaction among diverse student constituencies; developing and supporting departmental, student union, and student organization programming; recruiting and training faculty/staff advisors for student organizations; developing programming and materials to support student organization leaders and advisors; and creating a process of program evaluation and measuring student learning outcomes. This position will likely require some evening and weekend responsibilities.
Required qualifications include a master’s degree; 3 – 5 years of relevant
professional experience including student activities, leadership development,
student organization advisement, training and supervision; demonstrated ability
to coordinate successful student-centered programming within a college
environment; strong written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal
skills; the ability to relate to a wide variety of student populations
effectively; and excellent organizational and motivational skills.
Preferred qualifications include previous student activities experience within a
residential liberal arts environment; knowledge of student development theory;
budget and risk management experience; and experience developing contractual
agreements.
