Responsibilities include teaching ESL classes with the Department of English and Linguistics; working with appropriate faculty and staff to coordinate ESOL certification; developing a summer institute curriculum in ESL/TOEFL; teaching summer courses for international students; assisting with international student orientation; and assisting in the development and implementation of ESL assessment, including placement. This position has the possibility of overseas travel for recruitment, assessment, and consulting.
Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics or a
related field; evidence of effective teaching or potential for effective
teaching in ESL; and evidence of excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred qualifications include experience with ESOL certification programs;
experience with assessment of ESL; experience with pedagogical technology; and a
record of participation in academic program development.
