Program Advisor, Student Affairs

This is an 11 month position.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include providing planning, advising, and managerial support for major campus activities; advising student organizations supported by University fees and other University funding; working with various constituencies in activity planning and management; creating, disseminating, and enforcing various University processes and policies for funds allotment, risk management, and facilities usage; assisting in recruiting and supporting student organization leaders and advisors; providing assistance in preparing and monitoring event budgets; serving as part of the Student Union/Center for Student Involvement team in creating and implementing initiatives to create a more vibrant campus environment; providing developmental opportunities and programming for student organization leaders and advisors; organizing and implementing various seasonal and special campus events; serving as a resource for all student organizations in a wide variety of activities including chartering, event planning, constitution preparation, member services, recruitment, publicity, etc; and supporting student learning and development through student organization involvement and activities. This position will likely require some evening and weekend responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree; relevant experience including student activities, leadership development, student organization advisement, event planning and coordination; strong written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; the ability to relate to a wide variety of student populations effectively; and excellent organizational and motivational skills.

Preferred qualifications include previous student activities experience within a residential liberal arts environment; knowledge of student development theory; event planning and management experience; and experience working with agents in contracting for concerts, comedians, speakers, etc.
