Managing Change: Age Demographics of an Evolving Workplace Sign Up View List
What do Sarah Palin and President Obama have in common? They are both members of Generation Jones. A poll released by ThirdAge website of a nationally representative sample of 500 U.S. adults born in 1961-the same year President Obama was born-shows that today's 47 year olds clearly don't feel like Boomers nor Gen Xers, but instead believe they belong to the lost generation in-between Boomers and Xers. . . Generation Jones. In addition to Jonathan Pontell's Jonsers, the presentation will look at the Boomers, Gen X and the Millennial generations. Different age cohorts view key workplace issues differently: communications, mentoring, training, as well as, social values. These generational cohorts share some traditional work values, but differ on such important issues as the role of managers, employer/employee loyalty, telecommunications, technical competence, and what constitutes a good day's work. Their lifestyle preferences and social values also differ.
