Retirement Benefits

The University contributes a percentage of each employee’s salary to the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS). (Note: Not all the information at this site applies to Truman employees.) All current full-time (non-faculty) University employees are members and are vested after five years of service.

Full-time (non-faculty) University employees hired after January 1, 2011 and who were still employed with the University as of January 1, 2018, are vested after five years of service and are required to contribute 4% of their gross salary in addition to the University contribution.

As of July 2002, new faculty members will participate in MOSERS College and University Retirement Plan (CURP) and will vest immediately. Effective July 1, 2018, employees contribute 2 percent of their monthly gross salary and the University contribution is set at 6 percent. For more information about CURP, visit the website or watch a short video here.

Both MOSERS and CURP require a bona fide termination before employees can receive retirement benefits. For more information about this step, click here.

Employees who are preparing to retire through MOSERS, can download this checklist to begin the process.
